In this article, I’m going to explain what content should be included in a sales funnel for coaches.
I’ve been creating sales funnels for me and my client’s businesses for over 5 years.
So, I’m confident I know what makes a great sales funnel for coaches.
But, first, let’s talk about what exactly a sales funnel is and how it works, particularly in a coaching business.
What’s the Point of a Sales Funnel?
The entire point of a sales funnel is to attract your ideal clients into a buyer’s journey.
Within your journey, you warm your clients up so they can ultimately purchase your coaching services.
Putting a sales funnel together is commonly intimidating for a lot of new coaches.
So, today I’m going to walk you through my own process for how I make my sales funnels.
Putting together great sales funnels has helped me build a multiple 6-figure coaching business.
You can use a sales funnel in an email series, to sell your online courses, or to get potential coaching clients into your webinars.
I know they can work for your coaching business, too!
How Does a Sales Funnel Work?
Let’s talk about how a sales funnel work.
Think of it as a ride at Disneyland.
You have your introduction, the front of the ride that attracts you to it.
Once you decide to get on, you start the ride with some fun features and excitement along the way.
This would be your coaching business’s free content, value-drivers, and elements that build trust and likability.
Then at the very end, you have the big finale. This would be your sale.
Many coaches make the mistake of jumping right to the sale.
If you think about it in the Disneyland ride terms, wouldn’t that be so unsatisfying?
Would you really want the biggest part of the ride to happen upfront?
I imagine you’ll want the anticipation to build, else it’ll just be another machine at the theme park.
If that’s how it worked, Disneyland wouldn’t attract hundreds of thousands of people every year.
The thing is, people buy from who they know, like, and trust.
Your sales funnel should be what builds the anticipation for your clients.
Every coaching business must have a sales funnel!
So, now let’s talk about the specific features that help create the best sales funnel for coaches.
Your Sales Funnel Should Be Personal and Connect with Your Ideal Clients
The best sales funnel for coaches should begin by attracting an ideal client.
Setting up a sales funnel that attracts and brings in your ideal client allows your potential clients to get to know who their future coach may be.
A few key ways to do this include:
- Showing your face. In your photos, show your whole face with you smiling at the camera.
- Share your story. Draw your client in with a personal story that is relatable to them.
- Insert fun tidbits about yourself within your messaging. Use movie references, your signature catchphrase, references about your pet, or part of the world you live in. Small details like these help people feel more connected to you as an individual.
Your Sales Funnel Should Give a Quick Win
The next part of creating the best sales funnel for coaches is giving your prospective client a quick win.
You want to show them your expertise right away by proving to them you can help them get results.
Always keep in mind that this process is about the client.
Here are a few ways you can give your client a quick win by using free content:
- Create a webinar or a YouTube series. This free training should center around a specific pain point for your client.
- Give them a step-by-step PDF guide. This guide should focus on how to solve a problem in their business.
- Offer a free eBook. Of course, this eBook should pertain to your niche and should solve a problem for them.
Before we continue, let me explain the funnel part of all this.
Let’s use a social media example.
Say you have a social media post that shows your picture, which also offers a free webinar training.
Let’s further say the caption explains a personal story of your journey and how you help create transformations for your prospective clients.
Having been attracted by your messaging, they click your link for your free training.
This then adds them to your email marketing list.
Now, you’ll be able to send them an email that provides their training, which they’ll have to agree to receive in their email inbox.
Boom, now you can continue warming them up.
The Best Sales Funnel for Coaches Adds Continuous Value
In the previous example, I used a free webinar as the gift that you can give to deliver your quick win.
Now let’s talk about what happens after the training.
The best part of making a great sales funnel for coaches comes after your webinar.
Remember that you have an ultimate goal.
You want to convert your ideal clients into your specific offer.
However, the clients you attract into your sales funnel coaching offer need to be ideal high-quality clients.
So, how do you create your sales funnel to breakthrough to this level?
Just start with the simplest level possible.
Say you have a one-on-one coaching program, and you know that before someone works with you as a one-on-one client, they need to understand [X, Y, Z].
This means you already know which part of the journey they need to be.
So, you’ll simply add that part to your sales funnel.
It’ll be the part that educates and provides them the value they need.
Here are some ideas on how to do this:
- Send some education emails.
- Provide them with a lower cost offer that educates.
- Send them to your free educational content like blog posts, podcasts, YouTube channel, etc.
I do this by offering a lower-cost product for beginning coaches, after they sign-up and complete my free training.
It’s a self-paced course that teaches how to package and price a coaching program.
This course helps my ideal clients begin building their coaching business so they are eventually ready to take their next step.
In the case of my coaching business, their next step would be to join my signature coaching program, The Path to Six Figures.
Offering my lower-cost course builds a bridge and guides them to my ultimate goal.
It’s almost like I’m designing my dream clients from the get-go.
So, those are the elements that I believe makes the best sales funnel for coaches.
- Be personal
- Give your potential clients a win, and
- Provide educational content
