When you’re a new coach there is usually so much glory around that first $10,000 month. It’s that milestone marker that says, “Look world, I’m here and this coaching thing is going to work.” The hard part is breaking that 10K month barrier. Since I’ve helped countless coaches reach this level and beyond, here is the simple process to make five-figures per month.
Get calls, book clients.
That’s it. I told you it would be simple! Don’t worry though, I’ll dive a little deeper with you.
When I started my coaching business I hired a business coach to help me with the business structure.
I was able to get my business license and all those snazzy things that make you “legit”. I got my LLC, I hired an accountant, I had my business coach, everything was set up the way that I wanted. The next thing that I needed was clients, right?
My business coach was able to share with me a couple of things here and there and helped me get a couple of clients booked. After that though, I felt like I was kind of scrambling to continue to get clients. The first few clients came from some collaborations that I did. There were people from a warm audience and I didn’t have that large of an audience at the time. I kept worrying about what was going to happen when the clients ran out.
Then after a couple of months in, I hadn’t made what I was expecting to make.
I wanted to have that holy grail five-figure launch. I felt like if I could do that, then I could prove to myself that I was going to make it as a coach.
It wasn’t until I discovered a simple formula that got me to that infamous number, and you guessed it, that formula was to get calls and book clients. The only problem was that I needed to book calls, which led me to realize that I needed to systemize my business. Crazy enough, MOST of this process came from working on my mindset.
I had to believe that I could achieve these results. I had to build a system within my business knowing that it was going to attract my ideal clients. Approaching it this way, with some help from a mindset coach, I was able to attract 27 calls in a single month.
From those 27 calls I booked 3 clients at $3,333 and I achieved an $11,000 month.
I know you’re wondering, “how did I get those 27 calls book?” Well, I’ll tell you this, it wasn’t just from posting in Facebook groups, or from doing live streams, or from trying to boost posts. All of those things I had done in the past and didn’t work for me. It came down to me realizing that my simple formula included a webinar.
I remember a specific conversation with a client who chose to work with me. I asked her, “What was it that made you decide to work with me?” She replied, “You were just really sincere on the webinar. I was surprised that you were sharing so much and you seem like someone who could help me kind of take things to the next level.”
Ironically, this sales call actually didn’t go the way I wanted it to in the beginning.
Normally for a sales call, I want no distractions, but that day we had someone scheduled to come and do some sort of maintenance around the house. I remember thinking, “I really hope he doesn’t come when this call is scheduled.” So of course, he came when that call was scheduled and I was so frustrated. I was trying to put in my headphones, having to apologize to both the maintenance man and the client, feeling very frazzled and distracted. The complete opposite of my ideal sales call vibe.
However, to my surprise, she was already pre-sold.
When we got on the call it was more of a formality and she was like, “Oh, you know, don’t worry about it. I’m ready.” I pitched her, made her the offer, and she said, “okay, great, let’s get started.”
Now I run my entire business on that formula of getting calls to gain clients, but I continued to perfect the system.
